Traccar 6.8
July 7, 2025
Traccar GPS tracking server version 6.8.x is now available for download.
Notable changes and improvements:
- TimescaleDB support - Traccar now officially supports the TimescaleDB time-series database based on PostgreSQL. It is our new official recommendation for large scale deployments. See database performance testing for more details.
- Traccar Client push commands - With this release and the new versions of the apps, you can send commands to the client via push notifications. Even if the app is offline or disabled, you can still request a one-off location update or enable continuous tracking remotely. For more details, see the Traccar Client 9.5.0 forum thread.
- We have built a new service to support Google Find Hub devices in Traccar. Starting with this version, you can control them directly from the app. For more details, see Google Find Hub devices in Traccar.
- We have released new optimized Docker images and published Docker Compose samples that let you deploy Traccar with a fully featured database in a single command. There is also a new health-check endpoint that Docker can use to detect issues.
- Major optimizations for handling large numbers of devices and events in the web app. If you are still using the legacy app because of performance issues, you should definitely try the new version.
- QR-code display and scanning - On the web-app login screen, there is now a button that shows a QR code you can scan with Traccar Manager to quickly configure the server URL. The new Traccar Client also supports QR-based configuration, and there is a corresponding button in the web app to display a code.
- Position buffering is enabled by default starting from this release. The timeout is 2.5 seconds to allow devices upload historical records before processing data.
New GPS device communication protocols in this release:
- HYN600+
- JMAK JR11 and JR12
