Hi,
I also have the same issue with my TK918. It never goes to sleep.
Did you find a solution already?
Thanks
Andi
It seems hardware version 2.0 does this, they have allegedly changed all the battery management part. Note that it doesn't consume more battery, but it might consume slightly more bandwidth.
Mmmmh. This is a bit unexpected.
However, my TK918B does send this keep alive messages even every 3 minutes. This sums up quite a lot in terms of data.
Yes, data usage will very likely increase if the object is not often moving, but I haven't seen a huge increase in costs on my side. It will mainly depend on your subscription.
Then I guess I need to give it a go.
I am just worried this is really not affecting battery life. As it does not "shut down" the connection to the 4G network anymore like it did before.
Not yet sure whether I should be happy or not. Will monitor now over some time.
My five TK905's behaved all differently in that way, nicely sleeping.
Thanks a lot for your answers.
From my tests, battery life for v2.0 might even be better than former versions even with it staying online all the time. The biggest drawback is that you can't easily see when the tracker is stopped as it stays green.
Yeah. And it pollutes the traccar log with the keep alive messages :-)
Wondering whether there is some way to at least avoid putting this useless data into the traccar log file.
But did not find anything where I can filter.
Phew, seems I have to live with it.
By the way @renaud, how did you configure your tracker? to shock mode only, i.e. it sends position once it receives vibration?
And if so, does it never ever send any position as long as there is no vibration?
Former trackers I was able to configure to "send me position every 2 hours, and on top when vibration is received".
Seems I am not able to get this behaviour with the TK918 again.
Sorry for "misusing" your knowledge, the 918 is pretty new to me, I had five 509s so far.
Thank you.
I don't think it's possible to update every 2 hours in addition to vibration detection.
And this means, when it only reacts on vibration, and never sends a position as such... it would not send an updated battery level to Traccar when i.e. the vehicel is not moved for 4 weeks.
Thats also bad if it is like that (I saw Traccar does not use the battery level values which are part of the keep-alive messages unfortunately).
I get battery updates with traccar with the 5 minutes messages.
Hello,
I have multiple TK918/LK209C 4G devices. They all seem to be fine except some which send keep alives every 5 minutes even when in sleep shock mode. Is there a way to disable this? The device documentation doesn't show anything for this.
I get this kind of message every 5 minutes when the vehicle is stopped and this obviously consume data and drain battery. Besides, traccar show those devices as online.
It looks like keep alive messages, but I have no idea how to disable this.
Other trackers also do it, but only once a day.
Thanks
