Trackers for vehicles without an OBD port

Mike 5 months ago

Hi guys.

I'd like to put a tracker into my classic vehicle that does not have an OBD port. I could run it from direct power, but am concerned that it'll drain the battery as there are times it doesn't run for months. I'm thinking about a battery powered unit that'll last a couple of months and recharge when the car is running, if such a thing exists.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hello Mike,

I am using tk918 4G trackers for that purpose. Battery is about 20000mAh and lasts about 2 months.
However, I am not aware of a model which would be connected and wouldn't charge without the car moving. I just have a spare one and swap it when battery is too low, that avoids having to wait for the charge.

We use Teltonika trackers exclusively. When configured to go into Ultra Deep Sleep mode they consume about 2 milliamps of current, which is less than what the car's own systems consume.
