2G 4G Problem

Hardyvo2 months ago

I have 3 china trackers since many years. In August my SIM fron blau.de was switched off and I had to renew the contract. Since then the tracker still connects to the traccar server, but gps data is only transmitted, when the trip starts.
Is this behaviour due to a switch off of the 2g protocol?

I don't think it's related to cell network.

Thanx for the very quick response. So I have to search on.
My gps trackers response to status sms:
BAT:6, GPRS:1, GSM:3,GPS:0,ACC:0,oil:0,Power:1,S:0
I am not sure, if GPS:0 has to be GPS:1, but if I ask for Google Coordinates, the tracker sends the correct values.
The interesting fact is, that all 3 trackers behave the same.

I am not sure if this is the same problem but I am facing something similar, you say that only send the coordinates whrn the trip start and after if you check by sms it send the correct coordinates.
I might be the weekly rollout problem.
Check if after start it sends the correct coordinates ( by sms) and after that move yourself, change your position without restarting and checck again by sms if you receive the correct new coordinates or it still reporting the old one.
If so , I think that It might me the week rollout problem, difficult to resolve.
Make sure that you have the last traccar version. I thing that 6.9 resolve the problem for some devices with the dates, but I suspect that this is not your ( and my ) case

After a lot of try and error, my final solution was to throw the old trackers away.
So what I checked and what I did:
As I wrote I had 3 china trackers - two of them identical, and the third a different one. All are on h02 protocol and have worked for several years. The firmware date was around 5 years old, so it should not be the reason for a possible date problem.
Looking at the traccar logs, the date and time seems to be ok.
My personal assumption is, that at least in germany they have made some change in the gsm net, which causes the problem.
So I tried different SIM cards from different providers but the problem remains the same. Someone on the forum has published a link for firmwareupdate - but that one didn't work for me.
I also tried IOT cards for 2G and 4G, but the same results.
So finally I bought a sinotrack 901 4G and this one works without any problem. But it was too big in size - it doesn't fit into my ebike.
Next I bought two ZX908. I had problems to to connect the gsm until I found out, that they need a battery connected, otherwise they won't work. And another thing I found out, that may be interesting to some people with roaming problems:
My IOT Cards are Sinotrack Global M2M. They should work without the need to enter an APN address. This seems not to be true. Using no APN, or using telekom or blau.de I could not conect to the GSM network. So I inserted the SIM into an old iphone, and I saw, that it uses a vodafone apn in the netherlands. So I used this apn on the tracker and everything is fine. Because I am in germany and the tracker connects to the netherlands, I think that it is roaming all the time.
