Does Traccar Server maintain connection with device? (LK106)

Hello,
I have several chinese trackers - LK106, TK909, and some other, but they are roughly same, at least they have identical SMS commands.
I found this Traccar project and tried to connect my LK106 to demo5 server. I've sent SMS to my device in order to set server IP and port to demo5. And enabled GPRS via SMS command (gprs123456). Then I installed Traccar Manager on my Android and added the device to track it.

This is device:

My result was that I turned on/activated device by physically clicking button on it. It caught GPS and GPRS signals. I checked my Trackar Manager and device was green/active, it showed correct position on map. After 5 minutes device went to sleep mode, and Traccar Manager is also set to 300s(5min). Then device goes red/inactive in Manager app. It can only become active again if I press physical button on device AND close and open app afterwards.
This whole situation seems like a problem, because this tracker is autonomous and intended for dog. Dog is not going to press that button.
Does Traccar Server support periodic querying of device position? Scenario would be: server asks for position, device reports; then device goes to sleep after some time; after some more time server asks for position again and device reports position again; and so on... Is this possible to achieve (server querying sleeping device via Internet)? Or maybe querying device is only possible by SMS? Maybe this situation was because it's a demo server, and normally it would work?

SIncerely,
I will be waiting for reply,
Thank you!

Some devices need to be explicitly configured to report data periodically. Might be the case for your device as well.
