Am I understanding correctly that it's a completely different protocol? How would data come to Traccar server? Is there some proxy?
No, as I understand it, the only difference is in the header. All other logics are the same. The protocol is the same. When GSM is not available, GalileoSky switches the data transfer method to Iridium and before sending the data Iridium adds its headers before the standard Galileo packets.

The official website indicates that Iridium contains additional fields for sending satellite data, and therefore the tracking software must support the functionality of receiving data from the Iridium satellite channel.
