I saw the compasses in phones needed a calibration. I enterd asterisk#0asterisk# then sensor and the magnetic sensors showed in red "need calibration". I did this on both phones (moved it a few times in an "8" movement until the "bar" went blue) and it works now reliable (stop / moving detection). I use Samsung Galaxy S23 and S22 with most recent Android. Phone lost this night 3% battery, compared to around 40% the previous night, a normal value.
But it is still strang, that both my phones showed the exact same behaviour, at the exact same time with you. I dont believe in such coincidences.
I tried turning off physical activity tracking and it didn't help. The affected devices were xiaomi redmi note 8 pros one of which is running whatever software xiaomi has on these devices and the other is lineage os. Will try the compass calibration and see
