SinoTrack ST-906L

Hi Team - This isn't a traccar issue or setting but people here are likely to have acheived it.

I received a SinoTrack ST-906L from Aliexpress yesterday. Plugged it into 12V in my caravan, programmed the APN and server setting and added the device into traccar and lo and behold it was working. Its now reporting its location happily.

The problem is I only have +/- 12V connected no Acc because its not a car.

There is talk of setting MOVE(PIN) via SMS to set it to start logging when its moved but I get a SET Failed when I try this so at present my caravan is reporting its location every 20 seconds - Not idea for the battery although I'm sure its very low use and not ideal for the 500MB IoT sim card I purchased although it'll still have millions of updates.

Anyone got any suggestions.

I don't have any experience with the ST-906 but I have have ST-901 and ST-907 devices. Assuming the command set is the same try sending: SLEEPpasscode 5

I've sent that code and its accepted it - Do I interpret this as sleep after 5 minutes of no activity and then it wakes back up if vibration, movement or both?

If this is the behaviour thats ideal but can't find good documentation on the way the setting behaves. First hand experience trumps bad chinglish manuals every time.

Yes, that's exactly how my devices work. They go sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity and wake up again when motion or vibration is detected.

Its certainly gone to sleep since I sent the code last night - Tonight I'll go in and mount the unit to the wall of the van so that movement should make it phone home again for 5 minutes. Assuming that works I'll feel somewhat safe that it'll work when its needed.

Thanks

Sorry this took so long. Lots on and a good bout of flu that knocked me for six. I just went out and moved the unit while fixing it to the front wall with supplied adhesive Velcro pads, came in and checked and it had reported location and was online. Few minutes later and it’s offline again so perfect solution for a caravan.
