Can I ask you what SIM you found to work with the 908 and with traccar?
Hi. I have the same issue with the ZX908 like the OP. The orange/yellow LED is always on. I've tested the module with different working SIM Cards. Then I found that the chip which is used is a "EC800M-CN". Looking at the website of Quectel it shows that the region/operator ist china/india. I don't have any further idea and guess this is the problem, why the module is not working with my german SIM card.
hello, here in France i tried Bouygues could not get it to work and the app kept causing problems as it dials out and the phone thinks its a call and varies the sound volume, the app was not returning a position.
I used an M2M chip, but I configured it with a regular chip, and even though it wasn't connecting to the network, it still received SMS messages. Only after configuring it did I insert the M2M (IoT) chip.
Regarding the 905, I still need to find a way to make it communicate only once a day. If anyone has any tips, I would appreciate it.
I can't say the ZX908 is any good yet, but there is hope.

Device ZX908
Firmware 46@4
(*) I've done some digging in Traccar logs and I think the device is underrated because of Traccar gt06 not handling it correctly!
Only one every 3 heartbeats with 10 minutes intervals contains the device time. Setting Traccar timeout to 35 minutes makes a lot of difference. The device does no longer goes Unavailable. But of course a correctly handled 11 minute timeout would be much nicer. Remark: Setting heartbeat less than 10 minutes did not take effect, but that is a minor bug.
Sporadically the device reports a long string of 58 bytes, which the gt06 decoder can not handle and generates bullshit Offline-Online events.
The device consistently sends heartbeats, but they do not contain coordinates. Since the device does only tracks location when the accelerometer moves, that actually makes some sense. The result is that there is no position data to be found in Traccar when still.
hi guys, i have a zx905 too , also trying to set up traccar, afaik the server is ok, triple checked it, but to no avail, the freaking thing even refuses to charge the battery while its plugged in (my board came with a usbC pigtail, it even has a light for charging , which doesnt work appearantly), tried MRfX's codes, they seem successful according to sta# but still nothing, if i change back the ip it does report to 365gps correctly tho, if anybody cares im running a sim which is basically a telekom prepay as a local company bought this part of T's services recently and the transitioning is still on the way so i reckon a sudden apn change may occur anytime, could this brick anything anyhow ?
Please do not pollute this thread with questions about 905.
Sus,
So you listed too many drawbacks for me to consider it.
Do you recommend something instead?
OK, it's "offtopic", but my two ZX905 are still working flawless with traccar as described.
@MrFX
I appreciate you information for direct comparison.
Could you confirm the ZX905 generates Traccar Events when lightly shaking the accelerometer?
As just a tracker though, it has now surpisingly been working for 2 weeks on end, still responsive, tolerant for server temporarily offline.
@bolec456
If very minimal space is not your constraint, look for FMC920. I think it is well worth the time wasted on this.
@sus One more question. I'm new to tracking and traccar
I consider FTC305(i need 48V compatibility) but its not listed as supported on traccar.
It's defitately not supported or just not typed in?
Is there a common protocol on Teltonica and FTC305 should work?
Thanks in advance.
@sus sory, 920 turns out is perfect, just need a dc-dc step down. thanks.
I plug my 905 battery in my 908 and connect it to a USB charger.
By the way: my 905 runtime with a 5000mAh battery is around 1 month.
