Web Login failure to logs for fail2ban
We have discussed on GitHub some options of logging user actions. This can be a argument in favour of log file. I would recommend to find the discussion and express your interest there.

Hi, is there a way to get failed logins into the tracker-server.log so fail2ban can be configured to jail illegal login attempts? Or is there a better way to police illegal logins?
