2 bugs in traccar for android
I had a test device with the gps stuck on with the library's version 4.18.2 and even when uninstalling traccar and reinstalling it (the stable production version) , the moment I turn the continuous tracking on, the GPS will come on and stay on indefinitely unless I clear the play services data and so on as previously mentioned. But with this beta version. It doesn't happen. Taking into consideration that I didn't get enough time to actually test the tracking itself while moving yet. But so far looks promising in regards to that bug.

Was having the same issue (~400 moving events while I slept, which didn't seem right, unless I was going on sleep-marathons) - have tested the APK from the second Dropbox link and so far seems to have fixed things, moving correctly between stationary and moving states. I'll keep an eye on it and feedback to the plugin developer if all is well, or not.
Chris just released the 4.18.3 library update which I think and hope will fix this issue
Hopefully you will get a chance to update traccar with the new fix.
Looks like version 5 is out.
Really excited to finally get rid of the bug keeping the gps constantly on. Patiently/impatiently waiting for the new update :D
