Does anyone know how to make Remora work?

Mark Bailey5 years ago

I have seen many of posts on the Traccar forum and recommendations for the Oyster and REMORA devices.

I live in Mongolia and am building an app that needs to track a train.

Based on those recommendations…. I have purchased a Remora-3GE-02 and Remora2-2G devices from Digital Matter.

I have Traccar Server running on my server and can connect and track my mobile without issue.

However, we are having difficulty connecting the Remora devices via the Digital Matter / OEMserver.

Could I please ask you how you managed to get the Remora talking to Traccar Server.

Apologies.

After posting, considered that I posted in the wrong forum and could not delete the previous one.

Hi Mark,
you'll need to speak to your DM rep about setting up a connector for your traccar server.

They are very efficent at this and once setup, it just works, which is great.

thanks
James

Ps. if you're just looking for the data from it, you may be able to get them to send the raw data (JSON) over http to your web / app server and bypass traccar completely

DM have set up a TCP connector. Can see the Remora on OEM Server but not on my Traccar server.

Your comment "Ps. if you're just looking for the data from it, you may be able to get them to send the raw data (JSON) over http to your web / app server and bypass traccar completely"

I have an app and I want to read the current Lat,Lng at 5 min intervals..... I expected to be able to use some API to make a REST call to the OEM server but seems they dont have an API.

For them to just send raw JSON to my server.... I have no idea how to receive it.

Would be happy to pay someone to give me a hand to get this working.

Just about ready to ditch both Remoras in the trash.

I had to sign an NDA to gain access to the information, so can't talk about it in any detail.

What are you writing the app in? I would just create an API endpoint that their OEM server can call and send the JSON into - you just need DM to setup an http connector.

Happy to give more help / advice if you wish?

Hi I can't get the digitalmatter device to send the data to my traccar instance. I have set up a "Third party server" connection from the digital matter oemserver but I don't seem to get any data still. I tried port 5137 as described in traccar for the Oyster but I don't see any data coming on the tracker logs.
Do I need to speak to DM to set up the connection to traccar or is it someting you do on their oemserver control pannel?
