Get Kafka geofence events

For traccar to send geofence events to kafka, is it compulsory to connect the geofence to the device (in the UI /settings/device/<deviceId>/connections )?

This is a confirmation question. I had a geofence and a device. The device entered the geofence, but no event was sent to kafka by traccar. I figured out the device and the geofence were not linked. Could that be the issue?

You have to link device. You can either do it directly or via a group.
