GPS tracking device recommendation

GPS-9112 years ago

Hello, I have a project to track works vans in real time. I used tablets and phones with traccar app but I am looking to switch OBD based or wires connection based devices. I don't want to spend a lot of money. I will be using them USA based sim cards.
anything cheap or DIY would work.

Thank You

Our official recommendation is Freematics:

But that's on the expensive side. If you want to find cheaper option, you can probably look into some Chinese made devices. But test them first before buying a batch.

Any Chinese that supports 4g network?

There are many, but they aren't super cheap either. You can try Mictrack for example. They are frequent on this forum and can help if needed.

Mictrack shipping from china to USA shows will take forever.
meantime I am trying to build my own with raspberry pi and idea is to save whole day tracking data to SQLite then when Vans comes back to warehouse end of the day raspberry will connect to WIFI and upload data to the server. same time I will be looking a GSM module for raspberry pi for live tracking.

FYI I ordered 4 Mictrack MT-600 last week. They haven't shipped yet due to back order or production.
