Right way to transfer a tracker to new car

Is there any right way to transfer a tracker to a new car and keep the old device on traccar server only to old reports?

Ex.: I have a device named car-1 with a uniqueId: 999, then i uninstall this tracker and reinstall on a new car, so create a new device named car-2 and put the same uniqueId: 999. Of course I cant use the same uniqueId for the two devices, so first I change the car-1 deviceId to 999-test.

Your example sounds right. The only thing to add is if you have any media, like images, you have to rename the folder because it's named as unique id.

Hi Anton. Do you think I have to restart traccar server after that?

Well, I notice that the device keeps filling the old deviceId positions instead of the new one. I think this is happening for something related to the active connection with this device, maybe?

I tested it with a tracker that is on my desk.

You need to restart the device.
