I have installed Traccar server on a Windows PC which is connected to my home WiFi, I have my Android smartphone as well connected to same WiFi. Tried to install Traccar client from Play Store and in the server settings in the client, I pointed it to my Windows PC on port 5055. When going back to my Traccar server running on Windows PC, tried to register/add my smartphone using identifier shown in the application but unfortunately it keeps showing offline and never become online although both PC and smartphone connected to same WiFi and ports are all open. Is there any extra configuration that needs to be done on Traccar server side or does the URL needs to be a public domain or FQDN and not private IP address or what is the issue?

Well, you should check if there is any info in the server log about a device connecting.
In the device client app you should check the connection status also.
And logicly you would open an external port to the internet from your wifi router and route that port to the internal traccar server port and ip.
Then connect your you device app to the external traccar server port and ip http://theserverip:port
