Are you using the latest version of Traccar server?
Yep, version 6.7.2. I've got a non standars setup that means all of my data goes through a script before it reaches traccar, but i can see that the incoming data has the same speed as the output, and when I've disabled the script it's the same.
What value do you see in JSON from device and what do you see in Traccar?
JSON speed shows as 19.17 (m/s?), Traccar shows 22.06 mph. if it's in m/s then that would be about right. Both the incoming json and json forwarded to traccar show the same speed.
I checked that location in json shown in server log matches the actual location, but that is not updating the location in Traccar. Also when looking client device details:
serverTime Server Time 10/06/2025, 07:33:06
deviceTime Device Time 10/06/2025, 07:33:02
fixTime Fix Time 10/06/2025, 07:33:02
It would think that this is the moment when application updated --> changed the format.
Bear the issue with speed was on the server side.
Mika Vilpo if you get correct location in the logs, then it's unrelated to the Client app.
Ah great. Thanks!
I'm having a problem with the new app (from Playstore, not apk linked here). It seems to be fine on my Pixel 9 Pro XL, but on a Samsung S24 Ultra it keeps turning tracking off by itself. For the past few days I've had to go in and keep re-enabling the client.
Is this a known issue, or is there a fix/workaround?
Solved this. I had
<entry key='filter.invalid'>true</entry>
and that seems to filter all(?) new client inputs. Is status missing from new messages and this causes this?
I am also having issues with the new update. I updated on 11th and also this morning (13th) and am sad to see the frequency interval is gone. Anton can you help me with the best settings for live tracking please? We were previously using this with frequency: 1 second, location accuracy: high and we did this for live tracking.
I also noticed this morning when looking at the replay of a device out driving. On the old version of traccar client, we had perfect map matching and speeds as well. The new replay watching this morning is black triangles, no speeds and the map matching is very poor.
Currently the new update is a blocker for our use case, can I get some help please? Thanks
bones it shouldn't happen. Check logs.
Mika Vilpo good catch. There was a small issue on the server side. Here's the fix.
jy First, make sure you're using the latest server version. As for settings, you can still enable time interval on Android if you set distance to zero. Also enable heartbeat to get updates when stationary.
Thanks Anton, I will check into server to see if we are on the latest version. If distance is set to zero, what should I set heartbeat to please?
When you set distance to zero, you should see a time interval option. (Android only)
Anton, should I be checking the server or device logs? Because I don't have access to the device logs when it's away and randomly disabling itself during the day. It's only later in the evening when I can check. I'm not sure the logs go back far enough to reveal the issue.
There are also a couple of reviews on the play store with people saying they have the same issue.
Just trying to help - we all want to find a solution together.
I’m having an issue where Traccar reports speeds at roughly half their true value. I’ve tested with both an iPhone and a Samsung device. Each with a strong GPS lock—and they display the correct speed in other apps, yet Traccar consistently shows only about 50% of the actual speed. Version 9.0.3
