Unconnected you can try setting heartbeat.
I have it on 600sec, but I think it is not working when 'background refresh' on iOS is turned off. Which I have because it drains battery very fast. The log never mentions a heartbeat and nothing comes in after I stopped moving. Also when I stop moving at a traffic light for example for 3 minutes or so, it only start to detect new movement after like another kilometer of cycling. The log mentions movement but no gps point is coming in for a few minutes. I think iOS is very very strict when it comes to background processes right :/
