Traccar 6.7 Web UI Unresponsive with 1000 Devices

Haider 2 days ago

Hello,

I'm experiencing serious issues with the Traccar web interface after upgrading to version 6.7.0.

I have approximately 1000 active devices on the server. When I log in using my main user account (which manages all devices), the web UI starts hanging and becomes almost unusable. Specifically:

I’m unable to click on key sections like Map, Reports, or Settings.

When I try to open any of these pages, the URL changes in the address bar, but the actual content doesn't load unless I manually refresh the page using the full URL.

This issue occurs immediately after logging in, and navigation across the interface is effectively broken.

In version 6.5, the same setup with 1,000 devices was at least partially functional — it was a bit slow, and if I minimized the tab for 10+ minutes, I needed to reload. But now in 6.7, even basic clicks no longer work reliably.

Has anyone else faced similar issues in 6.7? Are there any recommended performance optimizations or configuration changes that could help?

Appreciate any advice or guidance — thank you!

What browser are you using and what are your client computer specs?

Haider 2 days ago

I'm using Chrome as my browser, and my laptop specs are 16 GB RAM, Intel Core i5 (7th generation), and a 250 GB SSD.

I'm also experiencing issues with the Traccar mobile app after upgrading to version 6.7, similar to the web interface problems.

Just tested with 500 emulated devices. No issues.

Do you have clustering enabled? How frequently are your devices reporting data?

Haider 2 days ago

Ok. Yes Clustering is enabled. Average 30 sec to 5 min.

Do you want to provide a temporary login for me to take a look?

Haider 2 days ago

Sure ..! Email address ? I have added over 1,000+ devices to my server, but currently only 750 are active.

Email address is on the support page.

Just checked your server. The Chrome tab is using 50-70% of the CPU and about 300MB RAM, but it is still very responsive. No issues on my Macbook Air.

I'm having problems on both Windows and Android — when I open the web or app, it gets stuck. What do you suggest I should do?

Anton Tananaev2 days ago

Maybe get specific numbers on CPU usage for both versions.

Hi,
I also checked the web on a Mac. The issue is the same there as well.

That's a very old macbook. It definitely can be slow there.

I also have this performance problem and some error warnings like:

throttleMiddleware.js:34 Maximum update depth exceeded. This can happen when a component calls setState inside useEffect, but useEffect either doesn't have a dependency array, or one of the dependencies changes on every render.
(anonymous) @throttleMiddleware.js:34
socket.onmessage @ SocketController.jsx:85

Uncaught Error: Maximum update depth exceeded. This can happen when a component repeatedly calls setState inside componentWillUpdate or componentDidUpdate. React limits the number of nested updates to prevent infinite loops.

Pint Error
