After reading the client configuration guide it’s my understanding that when in the stationary state a report should be sent every configured stationary heartbeat interval irrespective of the configured moving state distance or interval parameters.
Whilst testing I’ve noticed that in some scenarios stationary heartbeat reports are being filtered out. I don’t believe this can be the expected behaviour as in the scenario below no stationary heartbeat reports are sent to the server.
To Replicate:
Location accuracy – Highest
Distance (meters) – 100
Interval (seconds) – Disabled
Angle (degrees) – Disabled
Stationary heartbeat (seconds) – 60
Offline buffering – On
Wake lock – Off
Stop detection – On
Use system location – On
Log will show every heartbeat tick as: ‘Location filtered lat,lon’ with no upload to server.
Change the moving state Interval to a low value and the stationary heartbeat will work as expected.
Interval (seconds) – 5
Log will show every heartbeat tick as: ‘Location accepted lat,lon’ with upload response 200.
Thanks for the detailed report. You’re correct: stationary heartbeats should bypass the moving-state filters. Heartbeats containing coordinates were incorrectly being filtered. This is now fixed in the SDK and will be included in the next release shortly.
