Is that based on odometer or total distance?
Thank you for answering Anton,
your system is great!
Where do i find this information about odometer or total distance? The device is Teltonica FMB003 on OBDII of a Dacia Sandero. I used reports/summary and reports/trips with the same result.
Going the same way from Reims/France to Fey/France was 160 km, from Fey to Reims 197 km using the same way. Real km in the car is nearly the same in both directions, about 200 km. Normaly i have a difference of 1-2% between car-display/google and traccar. but not nearly 20% = 40km.
Where do i find the information you need?
You can look at position attributes. Odometer and total distance are separate attributes.
Thank you for the hint. It is too hot today.
the difference is based on odometer information:

How to get total distance in reports for reporting?
where does odometer information come from? CAN-BUS/ODBII?
Odometer is reported by your device and Traccar will prefer it if present for trips and other summary reports.
As the tracker is connected directly to the OBDII bus and the information comes from the vehicle, the fault must be occurring there. I will analyse the tc_positions for the device and see if I can pinpoint the fault and perhaps even trace it back to a specific event.
Is there a (simple) way to get Traccar to stop using the odometer readings for reports?
Yes, you just need to set report.ignoreOdometer config parameter.
What device are you using? Do you have the protocol documentation? Maybe the issue is with odometer units.
Thank you a lot for the information. Like written i use Teltonica FMB003 on OBDII of a Dacia Sandero.
I suspect there is a fault in the on-board electronics of this 15-year-old bi-fuel vehicle. It was faults with the LPG vapourisation system that prompted me to fit a tracker in the first place. I am also using the installation to test the accuracy of tracking methods and distance measurements across different types of terrain. Odometer always was best choise.
Why was one direction of travel correct and the other not? That can’t be right ;-)
I’ve made a strange discovery; perhaps someone can help me sort out this discrepancy. My son drove from Reims to Fey (near Metz) last weekend. That’s about 200 km via the motorway (Google Router). The route is displayed correctly in Traccar, but the programme only reports 160 km for the outward journey. When he drove the same route back on Sunday, including a stop to refuel, the correct distance of about 197 km was reported. I’m now wondering where the error lies and where (in the database) I could look to narrow it down.
