ERM StarLink connects to Traccar but no position is displayed

Pquevedo 2 days ago

Hello,

We are testing an ERM StarLink tracker with Traccar.

We pointed the device to the Traccar Demo Server 1:

Server: demo.traccar.org
IP: 46.101.24.212
Port: 5136

The device appears to be trying to connect, but no position or location data is displayed in Traccar. We also don't see any useful device records in the demo interface.

Could this be related to the StarLink protocol/decoder configuration on port 5136, or is there something specific we need to configure in Traccar for this device?

Any guidance on what we should check would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the protocol documentation?

Pquevedo 2 days ago

There isn’t a specific ERM document with the protocol. They only provided access to a portal where the information can be viewed.

I believe the format there is configurable, right? What format are you using?

Pquevedo 2 days ago

We are currently using the default format/configuration provided by ERM. I also sent you an email with some technical information from ERM that may help clarify the configuration we are using.

I have not received any emails.

I’ve resent it to the Traccar support email. Please check your inbox, and also your spam or junk folder in case it ended up there. Thank you!

I see it now. I got into spam. And what is the default format exactly?

Pquevedo 2 days ago

As far as I understand, the StarLink is sending the standard ASCII, comma separated format over TCP. I sent you the ERM technical details for the exact field structure. I’ll leave the technical side in your expert hands.

It is ASCII and it is comma separated, but the format is still configurable. If you can't provide the format string, I don't think we can help.

I sent you the IMEI of the test device by email. Maybe the listener logs can give us a better idea of exactly what the StarLink is sending and help us pinpoint where the issue is.
