Hello everyone,
I have a question because I noticed a situation happening today.
For example, I have 3 different accounts that have access to the same device.
I created the device in my ADMIN account and shared it with these user accounts:
- User account 1
- User account 2
- User account 3
This way, all 3 users can see the vehicle.
In user account 3, where there is no mobile phone connected, I created geofences and linked them to this device. User account 3 also has no notification settings configured.
However, in user account 1 and user account 2, there are notification settings enabled for geofence alerts, ignition alerts, etc., but there are no geofences created or linked there.
Even so, geofence entry notifications were generated for user 1 and user 2, even though the geofence is linked only to user 3.
Is this the expected/common behavior?
Should I create the geofence separately for each user in order for notifications to work correctly?
The reason I created the geofence only in user account 3 is because this is the account the customer uses on the computer, and I created the geofences there only for demonstration purposes. That account is not connected to any phone.
So why were the notifications generated for the other users?
Thank you.
It is expected. You should not have different geofence setup for the same device.
Got it, thank you.
But if the other users want to visually see the geofence on the map, do I need to create/share those geofences for their accounts as well? Because on user 1 and user 2 accounts, the geofences do not appear on the map, but they still receive the notifications.
Another question: so if it is only about notifications, can I use just one account to create the geofences?
For example, if 10 users can view the same device, I create the geofence in only one user account and the other users will still receive the notifications, correct?
My doubt is mainly about being able to visualize the geofence on the map.
Yes, you have to link those geofences to users.
But how can I link those geofences to other users if the geofence was created by user 03 and not by me (admin)?
As an admin you can link anything to anyone.
