Large Explanation - [protocol].timeout

Peter Flower5 years ago

Hi, how are you?
Could you help me with something?
I wanna understand this parameter [protocol].timeout because I'm using M2M data and each time when the connection is closed the carrier round the communication to 1KB, and this is not good for me because it will to increase a lot of my data plan. I wanna keep the connection opened between the server and the GPS tracking device, even though I know that every hour the carrier closes the connection, but that's another story which is not within my reach.

The server closes the established connection when the time set in ** [protocol] .timeout ** is reached.
I wanna know since when that time starts to count:

  • Since the connection was opened?
  • Since the last time when information was sent through that open connection?

Best Regards

Thanks Anton, according your explanation, i'm going to do some changes in the configuration of Traccar. As I told you I use M2M communication and I don't wanna rounding in my transmissions.
Do you have some advice about how to configure Traccar to optimize this type of connections?

Best Regards
