Readonly Device identifier

We have a use case where a super admin would create the devices and assign the identifier and then put the devices under users (separate entities). The users should be able to modify all fields except for the identifier.

Is it possible to do that through permissions? I can't seem to figure out the combination of permissions that would allow that.

Not possible out of the box. It would require some code customization.

Ok, understood. When I set the user permission to device readonly, the edit "pen" icon becomes disabled. I looked everywhere on the screen for a "view" button, I could not find it. How do I view the device information?

You don't except for the information you already see on the main screen.
