Real-time movement

Is real-time movement in web UI taken from database - positions table ?

If yes, if say positions table is too large, is it possible to maintain separate small table (with 3-4 days of data) for positions using triggers and fetch real-time movement data from there ?

Real time data is real time. It's not coming from database. It's coming directly from devices.
