We are using a hosted Traccar server (50 devices) for a personal-safety project and we are seeing inaccurate locations from iPhones running Traccar Client.
Test: several devices in the same room, at the same time, all reporting to the same server:
- iPhone 17 – iOS [VERSION] – Traccar Client [VERSION] – inaccurate
- iPhone [MODEL] – iOS [VERSION] – Traccar Client [VERSION] – inaccurate
- Android [MODEL] – Android [VERSION] – Traccar Client [VERSION] – correct
On the iPhones, the accuracy attribute shows about 1.41 km (~1414 m), which looks like iOS approximate location, even though:
- Location permission: Always
- Precise Location: ON for Traccar Client
- Client accuracy setting: High
- Low Power Mode: OFF
Consecutive iPhone positions are very stable (a few meters apart), but the reported accuracy stays at ~1.41 km.
Questions:
- Is this a known issue with recent iOS versions / newer iPhones?
- Could the client be requesting reduced accuracy, or is iOS returning approximate location despite Precise Location being enabled?
- Any recommended settings or client version to get GPS-level accuracy on iOS?
I can share client logs or screenshots if needed.

I have a couple of gps units from amazon, probably chinese. I don't have a brand name, so can't look it up on your list of supported devices.
I've attached a picture form the unit showing the IMEI and ICCID numbers.
Will I be able to use your service for these units?
