Test new completely rewritten Traccar Client app

I restarted the tracking in the app, but after some time, it goes offline. Do you mean to restart the phone?

alexsahka2 days ago

It sends an update and goes online when I click on 'Send location.'

Brodes it looks like there's nothing to send.

alexsahka what do you mean by going offline? For example, it is expected that it won't send anything if you're not moving.

I removed the positioning information that was directly above the screen shot and you can see the blue dot stating that the position has been acquired. So from what I can tell there was information to send.

OK, I think we need to split this discussion into separate threads.

I updated the TracCar client to the latest version via the Play Store.
What I noticed is that my clients no longer report the battery level. I couldn't find any option in the settings to reactivate this feature.
I use a OnePlus 9 with Android 14.

Are you using the latest server version?

Thanks for the tip. I updated from 6.6 to 6.7.2 and now the battery level is back. Thank you!

Last night my app automatically updated to version 9.0.2.
I'm running Android 14 on a OnePlus 9.
All permissions granted after rebooting the app and allowed for background usage.

I had to find out I must set distance to 0 to enable interval/periodic location sending.
Interval is set to 300 seconds.
Location precision is set to high.

Issue 1:
Online buffering is set to off.
Upon tapping Send location, there is no update. Logs inside app says "HttpService is busy".

Issue 2:
Now with Online buffering set to on, it does actually send something when I tap Send location, but seems like an older package from a few minutes ago.
When tapping Send Location again a few times, it keeps sending the same timestamp.

Issue 3:
No locations updates are send after expiration of the interval. It does not matter if the app is closed, in the background, in foreground and even foreground with screen continuous on.

Issue 4:
After pressing the back-button multiple times until apps minimizes and the phone's home screen is shown.
Now when I open the app again and go to settings, the Interval is gone and the distance is back to 75 meters.

Any advice on how to overcome these issues?

That's great feedback. We will work on fixing those issues.

Hi,

I had one phone (A55) where i needed to reenter the Distance parameter again.

The Second Phone (A54) needed a reset of the whole App Data, to have the Traccar Client start at all (was stuck at the green Traccar Logo, without any progress or Options to choose).

Phone without Issue: Galaxy A55 5G

Model: SM-A556B/DS
One UI Version 6.1
Android 14
Kernel 6.1.93-android14-11

Phone with Issue: Galaxy A54 5G

Model: SM-A546B/DS
One UI Version: 6.1
Android 14
Kernel 5.15.153-android13-3-28579584

Traccar Version: 6.6, will update asap, but this shouldn't be the issue for the App Problems i had.

Version 9.0.3 is out. It might take some time for Google and Apple to review it, but on Android you can download APK directly in the meantime. What's fixed:

  • Buffering off should work correctly now
  • Distance should not reset after reopen

Hi Anton,

That was really a speedy build.
Both of these indeed seem to work on Android with the downloaded APK.
I have soon to test with iOS when the update is available in the store.

Any clue on issue 3 where the interval does not seem to trigger an HTTP request?

I suspect that the interval is not a guaranteed thing. Maybe there's no GPS signal?
