Traccar Server was running fine now fails with -XX:+ExitOnOutOfMemoryError
You are quite right in theory of course but the reality is that SMEs undertake major software upgrades every 3-5 years, often when they upgrade their hardware. The cost and risks of doing so more often are too great.
And that would be the time to update their Traccar too!

MySQL 8.0 reached end-of-life in April 2026, which means you will not receive any security updates. Any business that cares about their customer data should be migrating to a newer version.
